Blanc-de-gris

On an isolated lot in the middle of a development of bungalows, Blanc-de-gris is a modern villa built on a raised plateau overlooking the Rivière-des-Prairies.

The raising of the land was achieved by construction of a large reinforced-concrete retaining wall giving on Gouin Boulevard, allowing the house and its garden to be open to the panorama of the river while isolating it from automobile traffic and noise from the street.

Fully fenestrated on the south-facing garden façade, the house presents a blank face to the neighbouring bungalows on the north side.

Both luminous and restrained, composed of a single vast two-level space, the villa is almost monochromatic: plaster and white parging, whitish-grey masonry and concrete, natural wood floor.
