The Wooden Wing
Lac Supérieur
2014
The Wooden Wing is a large second home built on the shores of Lac Supérieur, across from Mont Tremblant, on one of the most spectacular properties in the Laurentians.
A glass volume under an enormous wooden wing contains all living spaces, bringing architecture and nature into close contact.
Perpendicular to the wooden wing is a two-level, almost opaque wooden section housing service areas and bedrooms.
The house plays on the duality of openness and opacity, night spaces and day spaces.
The use of a limited palette of materials—white cedar, polished concrete, black aluminum, and clear glass—both inside and out helps to blur the boundaries between architecture and nature.
